The Web Connector, migrated to and/or written in Xbase++, utilizes Alaska Software's WIS technology. Simply by incorporating the URLs that hold the information needed, the Xbase++ application uses and displays this Web-content just the same way as it would be a part the Xbase++ application source-code. That way, a ton of information from the Web can now be integrated, making routine Web-searches obsolete, hence helps boost end-users' productivity and efficiency.
Yet, fortunately, Alaska Software and Xbase++ came to the rescue! Xbase++ allowed to have 95% percent of the 100,000+ lines of source code untouched and unchanged. This experience opened up things for Professional Teledata of which they said had never dreamed of; especially since they could continue with their development language their not just like, but are thoroughly familiar with.

Mr. Graham, VP of Development, enthusiastically states, that only due to Alaska Software's willingness to listen and respond to real world business problems as well as Alaska Software's openness to cooperatively working on those real world problems, ProTeledata has been able to having significantly contributed to the "Web Integration Server". The WIS has put ProTeledata into the position to seamlessly integrate content from World Wide Web into the Call Center Agents' screens. It is now feasible to query remote databases through HTTP(S) Web Pages, bring the data from the form(s) into our application, edit it under program control and then put it back into the Web Page to be submitted to the Web Site for updating. Another exciting WIS application of ProTeledata's, that is currently being tested, is an Alpha Paging Dispatch System in which a live agent triages a call and determines which person should be paged based on rules in the Xbase++ application. Then using the WIS, the Xbase++ application fills in a Web Page with information required by the paging terminal and submits it. The application then reads the confirmation number returned in the response and stores it as part of the applications transaction.
Mr. Jim Graham, Vice President of Development, and the Web Connector project manager-in-charge at ProTeledata, enthusiastically sums up, anybody having a Clipper or FoxPro Application that needs to be ported to a 32-bit compiler, ought to utilize nothing else but Xbase++.
